Kansas City Halloween Events 2026: Weekend Guide, Oct 30 to Nov 1
Kansas City Halloween Weekend Events 2026: Your Local Guide for Oct 30 to Nov 1
Halloween lands on a Saturday this year. That gives Kansas City a full three-day weekend of haunted houses, trick-or-treat streets, Día de los Muertos festivals, live music, and the last pumpkin patch days of the season.
I'm Jason DeLong, a Kansas City real estate agent with Heartland Homes KC. My wife Jana and I are raising three kids, so our weekend plans always start with one question. What will the whole family actually enjoy?
This guide covers the best Kansas City events from Friday, October 30 through Sunday, November 1, 2026. It's organized by day so you can plan fast. And if a weekend of driving around the metro has you thinking about where you want to live next, book a quick call with me. No pressure, just a straight conversation.

Weekend Weather: Plan for Some Rain
The forecast matters this weekend. Local forecasters are calling for scattered storms on Friday evening, with highs in the low to mid 70s.
Halloween looks mild, with highs in the upper 60s. Expect light, on-and-off rain in the morning and again in the evening. That overlaps with trick-or-treat hours, so pack a rain jacket for the kids.
Sunday should stay mild and mostly dry. My advice is simple. Favor events that run rain or shine, and check host pages Saturday afternoon before you head to an outdoor trunk-or-treat.

St. Paul and The Minneapolis Funk All-Stars '80s Costume Party at Knuckleheads: 8 p.m.
College Football Notes
KU, K-State, and Mizzou are all on the road Saturday. KU plays at TCU, K-State plays at Colorado, and Mizzou plays at Arkansas. Plan a watch party around trick-or-treat time.
Sunday, November 1: Día de los Muertos and Chiefs Football

Nelson-Atkins Día de los Muertos Festival
This is the event I'd circle first for families. It runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and it's free. The museum encourages advance registration.
Expect folklórico dancers, mariachi, crafts, bilingual story time, and a low-sensory room for kids who need a break. The community altar stays up in Kirkwood Hall through November 2. Garage parking is $20, so arrive right at 10 a.m. to beat the crowds.
Chiefs at Broncos Watch Party
The Chiefs play in Denver this week. Kickoff is 3:25 p.m. Central on CBS. That means no Arrowhead traffic on Sunday.
KC Live! is hosting a free watch party with doors at 1 p.m. Table reservations are available.
Last Day for Fall Favorites
Worlds of Fun Tricks and Treats: Final day, noon to 5 p.m.
Louisburg Cider Mill, Johnson Farms, and Fun Farm: Final day of the season.
City Market: November hours start, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
GloWild, FoodeesFest, and Liberty's Beacon: Still running Sunday.
Sunday Music
Free Sunday Jam with Levee Town at Knuckleheads: 1 to 6 p.m.
The Story So Far at the Midland Theatre: 7:30 p.m.
A Simple Weekend Plan for Families With Kids
With three kids, I've learned that one great outing beats four rushed ones. Here's how I'd map this weekend for a family.
Friday evening: Liberty's Beacon or GloWild. Both work in light rain and keep the night short.
Saturday: A pumpkin patch or Worlds of Fun in the afternoon. Then hit Brookside Trick or Treat Street at 4 p.m. before the evening rain.
Sunday: The Nelson-Atkins festival at 10 a.m. Then home in time for the Chiefs.
Skip the Worlds of Fun Halloween Haunt with younger kids. The chaperone rules and the scares make it a teen and adult event.
What Halloween Tells You About Kansas City Neighborhoods

Here's something most people miss. The best trick-or-treat streets aren't an accident. They're designed that way.
I studied architecture at Kansas State University before I got into building and investing. I've built over 100 homes and flipped over 150 homes personally, so I know a thing or two about the process. That background shapes how I look at a neighborhood.
Notice which places show up on every Halloween list. Brookside. Prairie Village. Downtown Lee's Summit. Downtown Liberty. They share a few traits.
Sidewalks on both sides of the street: Kids can move house to house safely.
Front porches facing the street: Homes that greet the sidewalk create neighbor interaction. Garage-forward homes tend to hide it.
Connected street grids: Walkable blocks beat long, winding cul-de-sacs for foot traffic.
A walkable center nearby: Shops and restaurants give the neighborhood a place to gather.
Those same traits drive long-term demand and resale value. If you're searching for the best neighborhoods in Kansas City, use this weekend as a field test. Walk the streets. Watch how people interact. Then browse our featured listings across Kansas City neighborhoods to see what's available in the areas you liked.
Thinking About Selling Before the Holidays?
The holiday season brings fewer listings for buyers to choose from. For the right home, that can work in your favor. But every seller's situation is different. That's why I don't believe in one-size-fits-all listings.
At Heartland Homes KC, we lead with a seller-first approach. You get multiple options, and we focus on maximizing your net, not just your list price.
Know your number first: Get a free home value estimate based on current Kansas City market data.
Need speed and certainty? Many sellers look for cash home buyers in Kansas City. Instead of calling one investor, compare multiple cash offers side by side and close on your timeline.
Want top dollar on the open market? See how our 100-Point Marketing Plan builds demand before your home ever hits the market.
Need repairs first or need to buy before you sell? We also offer Fix It and List It and a Trade-In option. Ask me how they work.
